Low-pressure system weakens over Rajasthan; IMD forecasts heavy rainfall

JAIPUR: A low-pressure system over central India has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area (WML) and is currently positioned over southeastern Rajasthan and adjoining regions, the India Meteorological Department said on Saturday.According to the Centre here, the monsoon trough is passing through southern parts of Rajasthan, influencing weather conditions across the state.Under its influence, moderate to heavy rainfall, with very heavy showers at isolated places, is likely in parts of the Udaipur and Jodhpur on August 1 and 2.Light to moderate rainfall is also expected at several places in the Jaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner divisions, the IMD said.Rainfall activity is likely to decrease over southwestern Rajasthan from August 3 as the monsoon trough shifts northwards.However, light to moderate rain is expected to continue in parts of the Bikaner division, the Shekhawati region, and areas under the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions between August 3 and 5, it added.
