Patna: The BJP on Friday alleged that Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor and the RJD had a “silent pact”, claiming it became evident during Thursday’s Bankipur assembly bypoll.BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok said attempts were made to influence public perception through “fake surveys” and social media campaigns, but expressed confidence that the party would register a decisive victory when votes are counted on Aug 3. His remarks came amid exit polls that projected a strong showing by Jan Suraaj candidate Prashant Kishor against BJP nominee Neeraj Kumar Sinha.“All political experiments aimed at challenging the BJP will prove futile. Bankipur will once again remain an impregnable fortress for the RJD,” he said.The BJP leader also alleged that Kishor, who had frequently targeted the RJD and its leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in the past, refrained from attacking them throughout the campaign.“This makes it evident that opposition parties, including the Congress and the Left, had reached a covert understanding with the sole objective of defeating the BJP,” Alok said.Responding to the allegations, Jan Suraaj spokesperson Kumar Saurabh Singh said the BJP appeared nervous about the outcome of the bypoll.“Will we seek the BJP’s approval to decide our political strategy? The real issue is why the BJP, in collusion with the administration, undermined democratic values in Bankipur,” Singh said.
