Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has deployed 1,266 civic personnel across all 422 polling booths in the Bankipur assembly constituency ahead of the July 30 by-election, to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and drinking water facilities for voters on polling day.According to PMC, a special cleanliness drive was carried out at all polling stations on Tuesday. Polling rooms, verandahs, toilets, the entire campus and approach roads were deep-cleaned ahead of voting. Lime and bleaching powder were sprinkled across the premises, while anti-larval treatment and fogging were undertaken to prevent mosquito breeding.The civic body has deployed two sanitation workers at each polling booth to maintain cleanliness before and during polling.To ensure drinking water availability, PMC is setting up water counters at every polling station. Each booth will have at least three 20-litre jars of potable water, with one civic employee posted to manage the facility.Apart from civic arrangements, PMC is also carrying out voter awareness activities under the Election Commission’s SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme. Through the “SVEEP to Booth” campaign, residents are being encouraged to participate in the electoral process and cast their votes.
