ROSEROOM just changed the way we look at feminine fashion with ‘Softly, Strong’ at India Couture Week 2026

Some fashion shows are about making a statement. Others are about creating a feeling. ROSEROOM’s ‘Softly, Strong’ belonged to the second kind.Presented at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, designer Isha Jajodia unveiled a collection that looked beyond the traditional idea of femininity. It wasn’t about softness as something delicate or fragile. Instead, it explored softness as a quiet kind of strength, the kind that doesn’t need to announce itself.Across more than fifty couture looks, the labels presented a woman who knows exactly who she is: graceful, powerful and unapologetically feminine. The collection also marked an important milestone for the House, as it became the label’s fourth consecutive presentation at India Couture Week. This time, the runway felt like a culmination of everything the atelier has built over the years – a celebration of lace, craftsmanship and the countless hands behind every creation.

Where lace becomes art

Lace has always been at the heart of the label’s identity, and with ‘Softly, Strong’, the fabric was pushed into an entirely new dimension.Chantilly, corded and guipure laces formed the base of the collection, but they were far from simple embellishments. They were layered, sculpted and transformed through hours of meticulous handwork.Floral motifs appeared almost like they were blooming directly from the garments. Delicate appliqué details added depth, while pearls and Swarovski crystals caught the light, bringing movement and texture to every look. The collection also introduced something unexpected – clay.Hand-shaped into floral patterns and sculptural details, clay became part of the label’s’s couture language for the first time. Blended seamlessly with lace, it created a fascinating contrast between softness and structure, tradition and experimentation.

The result was romantic without feeling nostalgic, luxurious without feeling excessive.

A silhouette built on strength

The strongest visual language running through the collection was corsetry. From sculpted gowns and structured skirts to sarees, tailored jackets, tuxedos and flowing tulle creations, corsetry appeared as a symbol of confidence. It shaped the garments while allowing the wearer to move freely – a perfect reflection of the collection’s central idea. The colour palette followed the emotional journey of the show.It began with soft ivory and blush shades before gradually moving into richer tones of emerald, teal, ruby, ROSEROOM’s signature scarlet and gold.Every colour added another layer to the story – a story about a woman who embraces every side of herself.Because strength does not always arrive in bold colours or dramatic gestures.Sometimes, it appears in the quiet confidence of softness.

The women behind the masterpieces

While the runway celebrated the final creations, ‘Softly, Strong’ also paid tribute to the people whose hands make couture possible.Behind every embroidered panel, every floral detail and every carefully constructed silhouette are hours of patience, precision and skill.A significant part of the label’s craftsmanship comes from women artisans, many of whom work from their homes in towns and villages across India. Instead of leaving their communities for work in cities, these artisans continue traditional skills passed down through generations while earning independently in their own names.Through its collaboration with Spread the Smile, an organisation supporting women through home-based craftsmanship, the label extended this message beyond fashion. The artisans associated with the initiative created several of the collection’s intricate three-dimensional floral elements. Their craftsmanship also became part of the wider show experience, including invitations and gifting details. The collection, therefore, was not only about the woman wearing the garment – it was also about the women who helped create it.

Celebrating a new definition of femininity

For Isha Jajodia, the heart of the collection was always the modern woman.“Softly, Strong is about the woman who wears it. She has lived enough to know that softness is never weakness, that grace can be powerful, and that vulnerability and resilience can exist in the same breath. She no longer needs to choose between strength and femininity, because she has always carried both,” she shared. That thought came alive throughout the show. The collection did not present femininity as something fragile. Instead, it showed it as something layered, complex and powerful.A woman can be romantic and resilient. Delicate and determined. Gentle and strong. She does not have to choose.

ROSEROOM’s evolving couture language

Over the years, ROSEROOM has built a distinct identity by treating lace not merely as decoration, but as the foundation of its designs.Corsetry, hand appliqué, three-dimensional floral craftsmanship and now hand-moulded clay have become part of the House’s evolving vocabulary. With every collection, Isha Jajodia continues to explore how traditional craftsmanship can be reimagined through a contemporary lens.‘Softly, Strong’ felt like a natural continuation of that journey. It celebrated the beauty of slow fashion, the power of skilled hands and the idea that true luxury lies in the details people often don’t see at first glance. The collection was not just about beautiful clothes. It was about the stories stitched into them.It was about the artisans behind the embroidery, the woman who wears the couture and the belief that softness can be one of the strongest qualities a person can possess. As Rohan Narang, Director of Hazoorilal Legacy, the jewellery partner for the showcase, said: “The most memorable couture moments happen when fashion and jewellery are conceived as one artistic expression rather than two separate disciplines. Our collaboration with Roseroom is rooted in that belief. Every Hazoorilal Legacy creation presented on this runway is born of a shared imagination, where silhouette and stone are conceived in the same breath, celebrating India’s extraordinary legacy of craftsmanship. With ‘Softly, Strong’, ROSEROOM created more than a couture collection. It created a reminder that elegance is not always about being seen.Sometimes, it is about quietly standing strong.
