Patna: Two construction workers died on the spot and one was seriously injured when a speeding truck hit their bike near Baba Chowk on Surhachatti-Hathori main road under Bahedi police station area of Darbhanga district late Friday night. The driver fled with the vehicle after the accident. All three victims are cousins.According to police, Mohd Tabrez Alam (48), Mohd Azad (45), and Mohd Israel (30), all residents of Rahtauli village under Hathauri police station area in Samastipur district, were returning home on a bike when the accident occurred.Tabrez and Azad died on the spot while Israel was seriously injured. With the help of locals, Israel was admitted to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The deceased’s nephew Mohd Aslam said, “After finishing their work, all three had gone to their sister’s in-laws’ house at Surhachatti. They were returning to their village on a bike late in the night when the accident took place near Baba Chowk.”After receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the bodies to DMCH, Darbhanga, for postmortem. After the postmortem, the bodies were handed over to family members.According to police, “We are working to identify the absconding driver and the vehicle. Both Mohd Tabrez Alam and Mohd Azad had weak economically backgrounds, and were engaged as construction workers.”
