The car driver was later arrested.Senior police officers said the incident occurred around 7.30 pm near Mawan under Cantt police station limits during a joint NCB operation involving teams from Neemuch, Ujjain and Bhopal. The teams had intercepted a truck suspected of transporting poppy husk.According to investigators, the truck had stopped at a fuel station to refill diesel when the NCB team intercepted it. Near Mawan, the driver allegedly lost control of the speeding vehicle, which veered off the road after hitting a motorcycle carrying a husband, wife and their three-year-old child before crashing into a house. The couple died in the accident, while their child sustained critical injuries. The car also injured Govardhan Kushwah, a local resident who was sitting outside his house at the time.NCB personnel, who were already in the area as part of the anti-narcotics operation, immediately responded and rushed the injured child to Guna District Hospital in an official vehicle. The child remains under treatment. The driver abandoned the damaged car and fled but was later arrested.Local police shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination and registered a case. Investigators are probing the arrested driver’s alleged role in the narcotics trafficking network and his suspected involvement in escorting the intercepted truck.Officials said the NCB operation resulted in the seizure of the suspected contraband consignment.
