Kanpur: A 30-year-old e-rickshaw driver was seriously injured after his vehicle crashed into a parked truck near Rehan’s turn in the Maharajpur area on National Highway after a speeding car allegedly hit it from behind.The victim, Ramsumer, a resident of Baijupurwa, was carrying paddy seedlings in his vehicle and was travelling towards Fatehpur when the accident occurred.The impact was so severe that he remained trapped inside the vehicle for nearly an hour.Locals attempted to rescue him by cutting open the vehicle but failed.Police reached the spot after receiving information and, with the help of locals, pulled the driver out before rushing him to a hospital in a critical condition.The car driver fled the scene after hitting the e-rickshaw, while the truck driver also escaped with the vehicle, police said.Police attributed the accident to illegal parking on the highway, which has continued despite three fatalities reported the previous day.ACP Chakeri Ashutosh Kumar Singh said, “We are in the process of tracing the two drivers involved in the accident, including the car driver and the truck driver.”
