Did loco pilot stop train for samosas? Western Railway says video is 'false and misleading'
The video, shared widely on social media, shows a man identified as the loco pilot walking to a shop beside the railway tracks, purchasing a packet of samosas and returning to a halted train.

NEW DELHI: A viral video claiming that the loco pilot of the Indore-Mhow DEMU train halted the train to buy samosas has been termed “false and misleading” by Western Railway. The video, shared widely on social media, shows a man identified as the loco pilot walking to a shop beside the railway tracks, purchasing a packet of samosas and returning to a halted train. He is then seen boarding the locomotive, placing the packet inside and standing at the doorway. The clip was also shared by news agency PTI, which said Railways had ordered a probe after the video, allegedly showing the train being stopped to buy samosas, went viral.

However, Western Railway said the train seen in the video was not the Indore-Mhow DEMU passenger service but a goods train.According to the railway zone, the goods train (Concor Green Field Private Terminus), hauled by locomotive numbers 27237 and 27600, was already halted at the Rau Home Signal due to scheduled engineering work in the Rau yard.

“During this operational halt, the assistant loco pilot (ALP) was seen buying food. This personal act during an authorised stoppage has been deliberately misrepresented to suggest that the train was halted for refreshments, which is completely incorrect,” Western Railway said in a statement posted on X.It further said the video had been falsely linked to a passenger DEMU train, adding that the selective editing and misrepresentation created unnecessary misinformation and undermined public trust. The railway zone urged the public not to circulate misleading content and advised users to verify information through official sources before sharing it.
