Maharashtra govt approves compensation to those affected by Deharji Medium Irrigation Project

Vasai-Virar: State approved enhanced compensation of approximately Rs 25.4 lakh per hectare for those affected by the Deharji Medium Irrigation Project in Vikramgad Taluka in Palghar.The Deharji Medium Project will create a water storage capacity of 95.60 million cubic meters (255 MLD). According to the collector, about 85% of the dam’s construction is complete. The project, which will supply drinking water to approximately 1.5 million citizens across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation area, affects the tribal villages of Khuded, Sakhare, and Jambhe, as well as other surrounding tribal villages who have been fighting for compensation.Palghar district collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhad stated that necessary civic amenities will subsequently be developed in the resettlement villages, and plans have been made to complete the rehabilitation of project-affected families within the next 18 months.
