Union min Annapurna Devi praises Tripura’s child care institutions

Agartala: Union minister for women and child development Annapurna Devi on Monday praised Tripura’s child care institutions (CCI), calling it “an exemplary model for other states to follow”.She urged state govts across the country to study Tripura’s practices and replicate successful components.During her Tripura visit, Devi toured a One Stop Centre in Udaipur under Gomati district and met staff providing support services to women in distress. Her schedule also included a review of anganwadi centres and child care institutions functioning in the state.The minister highlighted the role of One Stop Centres in delivering integrated support to women affected by violence, including medical assistance, legal aid, psychosocial counselling and temporary shelter, “all under one roof”.She reiterated the central govt’s commitment, under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, to strengthening institutional mechanisms aimed at protecting women’s safety, dignity and empowerment.Commending Tripura’s implementation of welfare schemes, she said the state made notable progress and credited chief minister Manik Saha. She also said upcoming initiatives under state schemes such as After Care would focus on skill development and training to improve children’s future prospects.
