Jaipur: A security guard was killed after a speeding car veered onto a service lane and rammed into the handcart on which he was resting outside a temple in Jaipur’s Ramnagariya area Sunday. The driver was caught by locals and handed over to police.The deceased, Radheshyam, 58, a resident of Mahal Road in Jagatpura, worked as a security guard at the Khatu Shyam temple on Mahal Road.Police said the accident occurred around 1.30 a.m. Radheshyam was resting on a handcart parked along the service lane outside the temple when the speeding car entered the lane and crashed into it.The impact threw Radheshyam off the cart, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Residents who heard the crash reached the spot and handed the driver over to Ramnagariya police along with the vehicle.Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Bhavesh Panwar, a resident of Jodhpur, was returning after attending a friend’s birthday party. Police seized the car and detained the driver for questioning.The body was shifted to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Police said further action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
