Order probe into govt asst prof examination results: Anbumani

Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has raised serious concerns over the newly released results for the govt assistant professor recruitment examination, questioning whether the massive inconsistencies in answer sheet evaluations point to a deep-rooted scam or structural mismanagement. In a statement on Saturday, Anbumani urged the Tamil Nadu government to order a comprehensive, independent inquiry to determine whether these discrepancies stem from massive evaluation malpractice or systemic negligence. He further demanded that the entire recruitment process be temporarily halted until the probe is fully completed and transparency is restored. He highlighted shocking scoring patterns from the official rank lists that defy logical explanation. In several instances, candidates who scored exceptionally high in Paper 1 (Part B)—such as 111 out of 150 marks (74%) in their specialised subjects—were shockingly awarded zero marks in Paper 2.

Should the Tamil Nadu government halt the recruitment process until a thorough inquiry is conducted?

“It is completely unbelievable that a candidate holding a PhD, who scores 74% in their core elective, would score a flat zero on a general descriptive essay,” he said. “Even if an applicant pens a couple of paragraphs with basic relevant facts on a topic they specifically selected, they are entitled to at least 5 or 10 marks. Giving them a zero is mathematically absurd,” he said.He said the examination conducted to fill 2,708 assistant professor vacancies across 48 departments in state-run arts and science colleges has triggered widespread anxiety and outrage among thousands of candidates, instead of offering relief. The recruitment test, held by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) on Dec 27, saw 42,064 candidates competing for the posts. While results for five subjects were declared in Feb, the scores for the remaining disciplines were released recently, exposing major anomalies.
