An 18-year-old man died after being found with a suspected stab wound outside Poole Hospital in Dorset during the early hours of Friday, prompting a major murder investigation and the arrest of five people.Police said the teenager was discovered in Longfleet Road, near the hospital, shortly before 2. 15am. Medical staff rushed him inside for emergency treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Victim believed to have been attacked elsewhere
Investigators believe the teenager may have been injured during an incident in Dale Close, around a mile from the hospital. According to police, he was allegedly transported by car before being left near the hospital entrance.A police cordon remains in place at Dale Close while forensic teams continue to examine the scene and gather evidence.
Three arrested on suspicion of murder
Dorset Police have arrested three men on suspicion of murder — a 20-year-old from Poole and two Bournemouth residents aged 36 and 38.In addition, a 22-year-old man from London and another 22-year-old man from Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.All five suspects remain in police custody as detectives continue their inquiries.
Police appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage
Detective Superintendent Neil Third said officers had informed the victim’s family of the developments and expressed condolences to them.“We do not underestimate the concern and upset that an incident of this nature will have in the community,” he said, adding that police had moved swiftly to make arrests and advance the investigation.Authorities are urging anyone who was in the Dale Close or Longfleet Road areas during the early hours of Friday, and who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage, to contact police.
