Mumbai: A 41-year-old woman died and two others suffered injuries after a speeding electric SUV struck their two-wheelers on the station road in Vile Parle (E) on Wednesday.Vile Parle police have arrested the SUV driver, Vilas Gavhankar (44), and booked him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 106 (death due to negligence) and 281 (rash and negligent driving).Gavhankar, who works as a driver for a south Mumbai resident, was speeding due to which he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into one parked and two moving two-wheelers near Monghibai Market between 4.30pm and 5pm, police claimed. “Gavhankar’s blood sample has been sent for testing to check whether he was driving drunk. He claimed that he lost control of the car. We are going to take the expert’s opinion to verify his claim,” said a police officer.The deceased was identified as Vile Parle (E) resident Kinjal Shah. The two injured, Nirmala Dojiya and Premji Dojiya, are undergoing treatment at Gawde Hospital, police said.
