HYDERABAD: Banjara Hills police have registered a case against a casting director following allegations of cheating, harassment and criminal intimidation made by a film actress, officials said.The complaint was lodged on June 12 by an actress who has been working as a lead artist in the film industry for the past 15 years. She alleged that the accused, identified as Prasad, had approached her in October 2025 after obtaining her contact details through a mutual acquaintance and offered her a role in the film Akasham Lo Oka Tara.According to the complaint, she worked on the project between October 21 and December 9, 2025, and was promised a payment of Rs 90,000 along with reimbursement of cab expenses amounting to Rs 38,000.The actress alleged that despite repeated assurances, the payment was never made. She claimed that Prasad later asked her to meet him near a film office in Banjara Hills on February 18, 2026, to settle the dues.However, she alleged that instead of clearing the payment, he threatened her, forced her into his car and behaved inappropriately. The actress further claimed that he offered her better opportunities in the film industry in exchange for complying with his demands. She said she managed to escape from the situation.The complaint also stated that when the actress’s mother contacted the casting director regarding the pending payment, he allegedly used abusive language. The actress claimed that he boasted about having behaved similarly with other women and said he had earned around Rs 3 crore, while asserting that no action could be taken against him.She further alleged that the accused threatened to kill both her and her mother if they continued to pursue the matter.Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 75, 79 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector K Vijay.Police said no arrests have been made in the case so far.
