Kanpur: A joint team of revenue, police, transport and mining department led by Sub-divisional magistrate, Abichal Pratap Singh, on Friday night launched a special checking campaign at National Highway in Ghatampur Tehsil area. During the operation nine vehicles were seized and 83 challaned and fine to the tune of Rs 6.75 lakhs was imposed on the offenders.During the campaign, the transport department team issued challans to 53 vehicles for violating regulations and seized six vehicles. Fines amounting to ₹5.75 lakh were imposed during this operation.Meanwhile, the mining department seized three vehicles and imposed fines totaling ₹1 lakh in cases related to illegal mining and transportation.The police department also initiated challan proceedings against 30 vehicles for violating traffic rules. In total, enforcement action was taken against 92 vehicles during this joint operation.SDM, Abichal Pratap Singh said that this campaign was launched with the objective of ensuring road safety, curbing overloading, preventing illegal mining and transportation, and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and on directions of district magistrate.
