Hyderabad: Jawaharnagar police have arrested four accused in a recent dacoity case at the bungalow of an elderly couple in the Kowkoor area.On Monday night, seven accused from Nepal tied up Murali Mohan Narsipuram, 68, an international arbitrator, and his wife, Dr K. Vijaya Lakshmi, 65, at their bungalow in Golf Enclave, Kowkoor. The accused fled with 60 tolas of gold, silver, and 3,000 US dollars. The police team investigating the case found that the accused fled in an autorickshaw and a scooter. The scooter was later found abandoned near Yapral and recovered by the police. The accused then hired two taxis in Yapral and travelled towards Secunderabad Railway Station.Police simultaneously analysed fingerprints collected from the crime scene and found that two of the accused, Meena alias Mamtha and Rajesh, were previously involved in a burglary case registered at Moinabad in 2023.The investigation also revealed that Rajesh and Meena had been working in India for the past few years, and had taken up work in Jawaharnagar a few months ago. The duo allegedly hatched a plan to commit thefts in houses and targeted the victims’ residences. As part of the plan, they roped in other Nepali workers — Sabeena alias Sunitha, Chang, Samrat, Biswal, Kamal, and Jankar alias Shankar.Meena facilitated Sabeena’s employment as a domestic help at the victims’ house on April 25 and introduced Rajesh as her husband. After gaining the trust of the victims, the duo allegedly called the other accused to the house on Monday on the pretext of celebrating Sabeena’s birthday and executed the robbery, Malkajgiri police commissioner B Sumathi said.Six special teams formed to nab the accused were dispatched to Bengaluru, Lucknow, and areas along the Nepal border. “After examining technical evidence and footage from more than 250 CCTV cameras, we arrested four accused — Sunitha alias Sabina, 28, Biswal alias Viswal, 30, Kamal Bahadur Chalaune, 34, and Jankar Bahadur Chalaune alias Shankar, 38 — at around 10.45 am on May 16 at Rethifile bus station in Secunderabad,” Sumathi said.Police recovered a portion of the stolen property, while special teams are continuing efforts to nab the remaining accused and recover the rest of the stolen booty.Sumathi also announced the launch of the ‘Mee Suraksha’ enumeration and verification drive for domestic helps in the commissionerate. It is part of a community policing initiative aimed at enhancing safety and security in residential areas by systematically enumerating and verifying domestic workers, tenants, temporary residents, and support staff.“The programme aims to prevent crimes such as thefts by domestic helps, burglaries, murder-for-gain cases, organised interstate gang crimes, and offences against senior citizens, women, and children,” Sumathi said, urging house owners and tenants to use the Hawk Eye Ultra app to enrol workers and tenants with the police.
