Tata Motors has launched a new top-spec Ultra variant of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari diesel. Earlier, the top-spec Ultra trim was limited to the petrol versions of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, offered as part of the Fearless and Accomplished variants, respectively. Tata Motors has now extended the Ultra Red Dark edition treatment to the diesel-powered versions of both SUVs as well. Interested customers can book the SUVs online or visit their nearest dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. Tata Motors has announced the starting prices for the diesel Ultra variants of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari at Rs 23.84 lakh and Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom, respectively). In the petrol range, the Ultra Red Dark editions are priced Rs 68,000 higher for the Harrier and Rs 50,000 higher for the Safari than the standard Ultra trims. A similar premium is expected for the diesel versions.

Design, features The Red Dark edition brings several cosmetic updates, including an all-black exterior treatment complemented by red detailing on the grille, headlamps and brake callipers, along with 19-inch blacked-out alloy wheels. The diesel Tata Harrier also gets an exclusive Nitro Crimson exterior shade. Inside, the cabin adopts a red-and-black ‘Carnelian Red’ theme with matching leatherette seat upholstery.In the Tata Harrier lineup, the Ultra trim is positioned above the Fearless X+, while in the Tata Safari range, it is placed above the Accomplished X+. The variant adds extra features and equipment to both SUVs, including a larger 14.53-inch infotainment system with a Samsung OLED display, in-built dashcam, on-board navigation system, Dolby Atmos, a digital interior rearview mirror (IRVM), app suite, a white-and-brown dual-tone interior theme, memory function for ORVMs, front and rear camera washer, sliding front arm rest, 65W Type-C charging port, Level 2 ADAS and more. Safari additionally gets ventilation for second row occupants. Talking about the engine, the Harrier, Safari diesel are powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine with 168 hp power and 380 nm torque. The Ultra Red Dark variant is offered exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission, while lower variants of both SUVs continue to offer a six-speed manual gearbox option.
