Khardaha election results 2026: Kalyan Chakraborti of BJP wins against Devadeep Purohit of TMC

In Khardaha, Kalyan Chakraborti of the Bharatiya Janata Party won with 97,752 votes, defeating Devadeep Purohit of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), who secured 73,266 votes, by a margin of 24,486 votes.Khardaha is an assembly seat in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal (No. 109). It forms part of the Dum Dum Lok Sabha constituency and covers Khardaha municipality plus nearby urban areas, This predominantly urban seat (89 per cent urban) has around 240,672 electors and 241 polling stations, with SC at 14.93per cent and ST at 1.7per cent of the population. Turnout was 78.76per cent in 2021. In the 2021 main election (before November bypoll), TMC’s Kajal Sinha won with 89,807 votes (49per cent share), defeating BJP’s Shilbhadra Dutta (61,667 votes, 34per cent) by 28,140 votes. TMC has controlled the urban seat since 2011. However, Sinha passed away due to Covid in April 2021. The seat was then won by TMC again in the by-elections and Sovandeb Chattopadhyay became the MLA.
