Why Should Avoid Boiling Tea Too Much
Jamshedpur: People from different walks of life took to the streets on Saturday to demand the immediate arrest of a group of men who allegedly threw hot tea on a woman in the city earlier this week. Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Roy also announced to pay the hospital bills of Mehendi Kumari (30), who is recovering from burn injuries at the burn unit of Tata Main Hospital.One person has been arrested in the incident so far, the police said.On April 7, Mehendi was selling tea her tea stop near the Tata Football Academy in Bistupur when a group arrived in an SUV and placed order for tea. Enraged with the delay, the group hurled abuses at Mehendi even as she urged them to calm down. Then, they picked up a saucepan, in which tea was brewing, and threw it at her. Mehendi sustained burn injuries to her face, neck, hands and stomach in the incident. The group then fled the scene.“There has been a slight improvement in her health, but she is yet to recover fully. She is still undergoing treatment,” Mehendi’s brother Ankit Kumar, a resident of Sonari, said. In a tweet, Roy said he will pay the outstanding treatment bills of Mehendi.Jharkhand Khsatriya Sangh on Saturday led a protest march to the district police headquarters and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate arrest of the accused. Shambhu Singh, the president of the outfit, said, “This case is like hurling acid on a woman’s face. Police should apprehend all the accused persons at the earliest and make sure that they get the strictest punishment that would become a precedent for the generations to come.” A social media campaign titled Justice for Mehendi has also started. SP (City) Kumar Shivashish has assured the delegation that police will apprehend all the accused and will see to it that they get harsh punishment for the crime.B Sridhar
