Around 97,000 sqm of land has been earmarked for the project in Sector 94.Noida: Noida Authority has decided to revive the Habitat Centre project in Sector 94 near Kalindi Kunj and issued an expression of interest (EOI) to hire a developer.The proposed signature integrated complex will comprise a convention centre, habitat centre, hotel, retail stores, serviced apartments and residential components. Modelled along the lines of Delhi’s India Habitat Centre, its aim is to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for social and cultural programmes for Noida residents and ease the pressure on venues in the capital.For smooth commute of visitors, the project is also planned to be connected to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station and have parking facilities.The development of the project had been stalled since 2022. Financial and administrative approval was granted by the Authority’s board on Jan 31, 2020, and the tender was awarded to UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd (UPRNNL) on Jan 18, 2021. However, UPRNNL was slow in executing civil work. While 34%work was supposed to be completed by Aug 2022, only 4% had been done.The tender was later cancelled after the firm sublet the contract to a third party that allegedly sold excavated soil from the site illegally. At that time, the project cost was estimated at Rs 654.5 crore.The project will be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model. Around 97,000 sqm of land has been earmarked for the project in Sector 94.As per the EOI document, applicants must be single entities as consortiums are not allowed. Over the last five years, applicants who are general developers must have a minimum average annual turnover of Rs 1,500 crore and infrastructure developers Rs 2,000 crore.A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for April 21 while the last date for submission of applications is May 15.Noida Habitat Centre will support the city’s growing population by providing a modern venue for art exhibitions, theatre performances, seminars and panel discussions.
