While Israel supported the ceasefire announced by the US on Wednesday, it categorically stated that its war in Lebanon would not be subject to the agreement with Iran. Despite Pakistan, which mediated the deal, and Iran – who support the Hezbollah in Lebanon – stating that the war would need to end, Israel has only raised the intensity of the war that has already killed an estimated 1,500 Lebanese.
After the ceasefire was announced, Israel intensified its strikes in Lebanon on Wednesday that are believed to have killed over 200 people and wounded 890, the highest single-day death toll in the war.
