Mixer truck applies sudden brakes & causes rear-end crash on Dwarka eway, biker critically injured

Gurgaon: A 28-year-old man sustained serious injuries on Tuesday after his motorcycle rammed into a mixer truck which had suddenly applied brakes seconds earlier and become stationary on the Dwarka Expressway.The injured, Alok Kumar, is a resident of Sikanderpur.According to the complaint filed by his brother Ankit Mishra, they were returning home on separate motorcycles after finishing work when the accident took place. “As Alok reached a stretch near the expressway, a mixer truck, allegedly being driven at high speed, applied sudden brakes in the middle of the road. Alok’s motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck,” the complaint stated.The truck driver fled the spot, leaving behind the vehicle.Ankit, who was riding behind, rushed to his brother and arranged a vehicle to take him to a private hospital in Sector 90, where he was admitted with severe injuries and excessive blood loss.Police said the injured was declared unfit for statement at the hospital. Based on the complaint and medico-legal certificate (MLC), an FIR was registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (act endangering life) of the BNS at the Sector 37 police station.“We are looking at the details of the owner of the truck and will send a notice to them. A team is also analysing CCTV footage and trying to nab the truck driver,” an officer said.In a separate incident, an 11-year-old boy was injured after the autorickshaw he was travelling in overturned near Hanuman Mandir in Bilaspur on Monday. The child, Dev Kumar, accompanied by his mother, was going to school when the accident occurred.His father, Billa, in his complaint, stated that the autorickshaw driver was driving negligently. The boy suffered injuries to his head, leg and chest in the accident and was taken to a private hospital in Sector 87, where he was declared unfit to make a statement.Police registered a case under sections 125(a) and 281 of the BNS after the father approached the police station on Thursday.An officer said, “We are looking at the sequence of events to determine the cause of the accident. The auto driver is also being identified and necessary action will be taken against him as per legal procedures.”
