Punjab govt to offer free UPSC, PCS coaching to 1,000 aspirants
The scheme covers 750 students from govt colleges and 250 from private institutions, targeting talented youth from rural areas and economically weaker backgrounds

Chandigarh: The Punjab govt will provide free online coaching for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Punjab Civil Services (PCS) examinations to 1,000 selected college students to remove financial and geographical barriers for aspirants across the state. The scheme covers 750 students from govt colleges and 250 from private institutions, targeting talented youth from rural areas and economically weaker backgrounds.Launching the initiative under the Punjab Sikhiya Kranti mission, chief minister Bhagwant Mann said, “Every young person in Punjab carries a dream, and no dream should be held back because a family cannot afford coaching or a student lives far from a coaching centre. We want the children of Punjab to dream without limits and know that their govt stands with them.”“Through this initiative, we are opening doors that may have seemed out of reach for many students and giving them the confidence to aspire to become officers, administrators and leaders of tomorrow,” Mann added, emphasising the vision of building a Rangla Punjab. The programme offers a comprehensive academic support framework featuring structured live and recorded lectures, study material, test series, answer-writing evaluation, personalised mentorship, doubt resolution, and interview guidance.Higher education minister Harjot Singh Bains noted that the initiative levels the playing field for students in remote areas.“Through this initiative, a student sitting in a college in a village or a small town will have access to the same structured preparation, guidance and academic support as someone studying in a major coaching hub. For us, the real success of Punjab Sikhiya Kranti is when a student begins to believe that no aspiration is beyond their reach,” Bains said.By offering state-funded coaching to both govt and private college students, the govt aims to ensure that talent and determination, rather than location or financial standing, determine an aspirant’s success.
