Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s on-screen chemistry in the ‘King’ song ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, is giving fans a sense of deja vu. The newly released music video from their upcoming film, has sparked comparisons with their hit romantic drama ‘Om Shanti Om’, with fans spotting several visual parallels between the two films. While ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ features the two stars as love-struck characters in romantic sequences, the video also offers glimpses of an action-packed montage that hints at the events leading to Shah Rukh’s character going on a brutal and bloody rampage. A sequence involving fire has also led to speculation about how Deepika’s character could meet her tragic end in the film, drawing comparisons with her character’s fate in ‘Om Shanti Om’.Reacting to the possibility of Deepika playing a character who dies in a fire, one fan commented, “OH MY GOD DEEPIKA IS THE WIFE WHO DIES IN THE BEGINNING OF THE FILM “. Another drew attention to the recurring trope of her characters dying in films starring SRK, and wrote, “Om Shanti Om, Jawan, and now King, Bechari Deepika ko baar baar maar rahe.”However, it was the nostalgia surrounding their first film together, ‘Om Shanti Om’, that got fans excited. Celebrating their reunion on screen, one fan wrote, “we are again witnessing the reunion of om & shanti”. Another commented, “Om & Shanti reunion”.Fans also pointed out several visual similarities between the two films. One such parallel was a dinner-date sequence in which Shah Rukh and Deepika’s characters are seen clinking their champagne glasses, bringing back memories of a similar moment in ‘Om Shanti Om’. Others noticed a resemblance between a scene in the earlier film, where Shah Rukh’s character stands behind Deepika and looks at her longingly. The most striking comparison, however, came from the fire sequence in ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’. Some viewers believe it could depict the moment Deepika’s character meets her end, and Shah Rukh’s character is unable to save her. The visual has fuelled buzz that ‘King’ could once again place the two actors at the centre of a tragic love story.‘King’ is slated to release over the Christmas 2026 weekend.
