Hollywood actor Sofía Vergara sold her Tuscan-style Beverly Hills estate for $13.7 million after nearly two years on the market. Vergara bought the property for $10.6 million in 2014, renovated it with her then-husband Joe Manganiello, and initially listed it for $19.6 million in July 2022. As reported by Architectural Digest, the sale was reported on April 25, 2024, after the couple had reduced the asking price several times. The final price was nearly $6 million below the original listing price, but $3.1 million above the amount Vergara had paid for the home in 2014. The estate covers around 11,000 square feet and has seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. It sits on a plot of just over half an acre, behind gates and tall hedges.

A $19.6 million asking price that kept falling

When Vergara and Manganiello put the property on the market in July 2022, they asked $19.6 million for it. In a 2022 report by the Los Angeles Times, the price was nearly double the $10.6 million paid for the property in 2014. The couple had already moved to a larger home in the Beverly Park neighbourhood in 2020. The new listing offered more than 11,000 square feet of living space, with a gym, movie theatre, wine cellar and wet bar. After the house remained unsold for about a year, the asking price was reduced to $17.99 million in the summer of 2023, according to Architectural Digest. It was subsequently listed again in early 2024 for around $13.9 million. The property eventually sold for $13.7 million.

The home was built in 2006 and has a design inspired by Tuscan villas. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the interior features neutral colours in the main living areas, while black accents appear in the office, theatre and bar. A spiral staircase connects the two levels, and the entrance has a rotunda-topped foyer. The formal living room features a large stone fireplace. The kitchen has a central island and dual sinks, while French doors connect the main living areas to the garden. The backyard includes a swimming pool, spa, several patios and a covered outdoor sitting area. Tall hedges and lawns provide privacy around the property. As reported by Architectural Digest, all seven bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The primary bedroom also has an outdoor patio with a stone fireplace and seating. Other features include a wet bar, a wine cellar that can hold 3,000 bottles, a wine-tasting room, a gym and a large home theatre with dark-wood detailing.

Renovations before the sale

Vergara and Manganiello worked with Los Angeles designer Jennifer Bevan to remodel the home. In a July 2022 report, Architectural Digest described the renovation as a complete redesign, highlighting the high ceilings, dark-wood details and statement chandeliers. The couple’s decision to sell followed their move to a larger Beverly Park property. According to Architectural Digest, the 17,000-square-foot home had undergone two years of renovation before it was ready for them to move in. The Beverly Hills estate was therefore no longer their main home when they began trying to sell it.

What the final sale price means

The $13.7 million sale price was $5.9 million below the original $19.6 million asking price. However, compared with the $10.6 million purchase price in 2014, the sale represented a difference of $3.1 million before accounting for renovation costs, taxes, transaction fees and other expenses. The final figure was also slightly below the last reported asking price of $13.9 million. Vergara, best known for playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the television comedy ‘Modern Family,’ was also serving as a judge on America’s Got Talent at the time of the 2022 listing, according to the Los Angeles Times. After nearly two years of attempted sale, the Beverly Hills villa finally changed hands in April 2024 for $13.7 million.
