5 things a good husband never does to his wife

When you’ve been married for years, it’s easy to get comfortable. You know each other’s routines, you’ve settled into a rhythm and you don’t feel the need to make a big effort every day.

There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, feeling comfortable around your partner is one of the nicest parts of a long marriage.

The problem starts when comfort turns into taking each other for granted.

A good husband doesn’t stop appreciating his wife just because she’s been beside him through the years. He still thanks her for the little things, makes time for her and checks in when he knows she’s having a difficult day.

He doesn’t need to buy expensive gifts or plan elaborate dates to show he cares. Sometimes, it’s remembering something she mentioned in passing. Sometimes, it’s putting his phone away and spending an evening talking to her. And sometimes, it’s simply asking how she’s doing and actually listening to the answer.

Marriage doesn’t mean the effort stops once you’ve said “I do”. If anything, the little things matter even more as the years go by.
