Mumbai’s festive spirit is in full swing as the Andheri Link Road Sarbojanik Durga Puja brings together devotees, celebrities and the city’s diverse communities. Actors Rahul Roy and Riva Arora were among those who visited the pandal, joining the celebrations as the enthusiasm for Durga Puja continues to catch on with Mumbai’s masses.Organised by the Bangla Cultural Association, the annual celebration has returned for its 18th year, bringing a slice of Bengal’s rich cultural heritage to the city. The five-day festivities, being held from October 17 to 21 at Mangalam Ground, Andheri West, are drawing people together through devotion, music, food and cultural programmes.From the rhythmic beats of the dhaak and the traditional dhunuchi dance to soulful bhog and cultural performances, the pandal offers visitors an opportunity to experience the many facets of Durga Puja. Beyond the religious rituals, it has become a space for families, friends and communities to gather and celebrate together.Since 2009, the Bangla Cultural Association has been bringing people together through its celebrations, reflecting how Durga Puja has grown into a much-awaited cultural event for Mumbai’s Bengali community as well as people from other backgrounds.With its mix of faith, festivities and community spirit, the Andheri pandal captures the city’s inclusive character, where people come together to welcome Goddess Durga and soak in the festive fervour.
