Patna: The body of a 19-year-old youth, who had been missing for last three days, was recovered from a water-filled canal between Kolwara and Thebhay villages in Khagaria district on Wednesday morning. Police said drowning was suspected, but the exact cause of death would be known after investigation. The deceased was identified as Sumit Kumar, son of Manoj Kumar, a resident of Nayatola Kolwara in Parbatta block.According to villagers, Sumit had been missing for the past three days and his family had been searching for him. On Wednesday morning, his body was spotted in the canal and later identified by his family.Madaia SHO Manish Kumar said the body was handed over to the family after postmortem. “Police are investigating the circumstances in which the youth died,” he said.The family has not reported any enmity or dispute involving Sumit. Police said further action would be taken on the basis of the postmortem report.
