Govt teacher crushed to death by speeding truck in Ara

Ara: A 35-year-old govt schoolteacher was crushed to death by a speeding truck while returning from a teachers’ training programme on her brother’s motorcycle on Saturday afternoon. The accident took place near a school and a petrol pump at Dhanupra under Ara Town police station area in Bhojpur district.The deceased was identified as Tabassum Parween, daughter of Ainul Haque and a resident of Waliganj locality in Ara. She was posted at an upgraded high school in Sakaddi under Koilwar block and had gone to a school in Kulhariya to attend a teachers’ training programme.Arshad Warsi, a teacher who attended the same training programme, said Tabassum was returning with her brother, Saif Ali, when a speeding truck allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind while trying to overtake it. She fell on the road and was crushed under the truck, he said.The truck driver allegedly fled the spot after the accident.Ara Town SHO Devraj Rai and other police personnel rushed to the spot. The body was later sent to Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Police have launched an investigation to identify the truck and trace its driver. “The CCTV footage is being examined to identify and nab the truck driver involved in the accident,” Rai said.The accident has raised concerns over road safety on the busy Ara-Patna road.
