Nana Patekar, the beloved Bollywood actor, known for his work in Hindi and Marathi cinema, has passed away. The Padma Shri recipient and National Award-winning artist breathed his last at 75 in his Goa home. According to the statement shared by the doctor from the Oncology Department of Manipal Hospital, Nana Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest.
Doctors couldn’t revive Nana Patekar despite continuous efforts
He was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, and was subsequently rushed to a hospital. According to ANI, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department, said that even after 45 minutes of continuous CPR, the actor could not be revived.“Nana Patekar was brought dead to the hospital somewhere around 4.30 and he was declared dead by 5.30. We had tried our best to save him, but he was brought in dead. A cardiac massage was given for almost 45 minutes to 1 hour, but he just could not be saved,” said the doctor.He continued, “As per what we have recollected, he called somewhere around 2.30. He sent a message to his friend that he was not feeling well. But as it was nighttime, he could not see the message. So he just called him. He went to his house at around 4.30 and he was sweating and all. They moved him and did all those primary things, but he was slowly becoming unconscious. So they sent his caretaker because they stay near our hospital. The caretaker came to the hospital and took our ambulance. Our ER team went there. They started cardiac massage because he was totally unresponsive when they arrived. They shifted him while performing cardiac massage to our hospital somewhere around maybe 4.20 or 4.30.”“We also tried our maximum here, but he was brought dead,” the doctor shared.Thereafter, a police case was registered because it was an MLC, and the body was taken to Goa Medical College for postmortem. The report will be shared with the relatives.Dr. Shekhar Salkar also said, “His family was not there. His friends were there with him and his caretaker. Nana Patekar was called to our ambulance. His caretaker came to the hospital around 4.18 or so. So our ambulance reached his house around 4.20, at a flat near our hospital. And when we saw him there, he was unresponsive. So they started CPR. And while doing CPR, they shifted him in the ambulance to the hospital by around 4.20 or 4.30. And by that time, they also did maximum CPR. And by 5.20, they declared that he was dead.”

The news of Nana Patekar’s demise sent shock waves. Social media has been flooded with last respects and condolences. While his fans and fraternity are finding the news too shocking to process, many stars have poured their hearts out.“Really saddened by the news of Nana ji’s passing. That voice, that intensity, that honesty in every performance… he was completely his own,” wrote Akshay Kumar, who worked with Nana Patekar in‘Welcome.’On X (formerly called Twitter), Akshay continued, “There are so many memories from those sets that I’ll always hold close. Nana ji was truly one of a kind. It’s hard to believe you’re gone. Thank you for all the memories. You will be missed more than words can say.”The ‘Dhurandhar’ fame star R Madhavan also paid his respects with his heartwarming words. Taking to his Instagram stories, He shared, “A legend moves on. Thank you for the unforgettable moments in the Theatres, and the invaluable lessons to actors. I still remember exactly how moved and inspired I felt after watching ‘Prahaar’. There will be none other like you, sir. RIP,”
R Madhavan pays a tribute to Nana Patekar
Further, while speaking to ETimes, Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav expressed his grief and shock. With a heavy heart, he told us, “In shock after knowing about the death; this was not the time to go. He had many things to do yet. In deep shock; couldn’t process the news.”Following the news of his demise, Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar has shared that Nana Patekar will be accorded a state funeral, reported PTI.
