Bollywood actor Abhay Deol had once given a glimpse into his stunning Goa home, a glass house surrounded by forest that reflects his unconventional personality and distinctive aesthetic. Featured in an episode of ‘Asian Paints Where The Heart Is’ back in 2022, the ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ actor had opened up about his design choices, love for minimalism, collected memorabilia and the idea of creating a space that brings the outdoors inside.
Abhay Deol’s Goa home is a glass house surrounded by the forest
Known for choosing unconventional roles and making distinctive choices both on and off screen, Abhay Deol has created a home in Goa that mirrors his individualistic personality. Located away from the state’s crowded tourist areas and surrounded by greenery, the property offers the actor a quiet retreat that remains closely connected to nature. The house, which Abhay had visited frequently for nearly two decades before deciding to build his home there, stands out for its expansive structure and open design. Rather than separating the interiors from the surrounding forest, the actor wanted the natural environment to become an integral part of the home.Describing the space through the lens of personal taste, Deol’s approach centres on the question of what he finds attractive rather than simply following what others might prefer. The result is a home that prioritises comfort, openness and individuality.
Abhay Deol wanted his Goa home to bring the outside environment indoors
One of the defining characteristics of Abhay’s Goa home is its extensive use of glass. Instead of conventional windows, the house features large glass doors and walls that create an uninterrupted visual connection with the forest outside. The soaring rooflines and open structure further enhance the feeling of space. The design allows natural light and greenery to become part of the interiors, creating a sense of freedom while maintaining a deliberately uncluttered aesthetic. The actor’s vision for the property was clear: a home that was clean, sharp and airy, while allowing the forest to remain visible from almost every part of the house. Exposed brick and cement surfaces, wooden stairs and large glass panels contribute to the understated character of the space.
Minimalism meets bold design choices inside Abhay Deol’s home
While the house is expansive, Abhay has deliberately kept its basic foundation simple. Black granite flooring, dark wood elements and bare walls establish a restrained base, allowing the surrounding landscape and carefully selected objects to stand out.The minimalism, however, does not mean the interiors lack personality. Bold colours make an appearance in different spaces, including deep blue walls that contrast with the flooring and add visual depth to the otherwise earthy palette. The home also features artwork created by visiting artists, with striking pieces adding character to the exterior walls. These elements reflect Abhay’s preference for surrounding himself with objects and visual details that he finds interesting and meaningful.

The actor’s personality can also be seen through the memorabilia and distinctive pieces collected over the years. Rather than opting for a conventional luxury aesthetic, Abhay has created a space that feels personal and lived-in.His approach to decor appears to be driven by curiosity and individuality. Objects are chosen not merely to decorate the house but to create an environment that he enjoys spending time in.The property consequently functions as more than a retreat. It is a place where the actor can relax, entertain friends and offer visitors a glimpse into his life and interests.
