The former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said that every step towards building a stronger India should be guided by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.In a social media post marking Gandhi Jayanti, Banerjee paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and recalled his enduring message of truth, simplicity and service.She said the country’s journey towards becoming stronger should continue to be guided by Gandhi’s principles, as per PTI report.Trinamool Conngress MP Abhishek Banerjee also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, saying he reaffirmed his commitment to the timeless values of truth, non violation, compassion, justice and equality associated with the father of the Nation.

In a social media post, Abhishek Banerjee said Gandhi envisioned an India where every citizen could live with dignity, the most vulnerable had a voice, and the welfare of all Indians remained central to public life.He said that at a time when, in his view, the values of the Republic were being tested, remembering Gandhi should involve standing up for truth, defending justice and safeguarding the dignity and rights of citizens.The Diamond Harbour MP said the most meaningful tribute to Gandhi would be to build an India where all citizens are treated equally, no voice is silenced, no one is left behind and the Constitution remains the guiding force.
