More plants do not always mean a better garden. Plants need enough room for their roots, leaves and stems to develop.
Look for containers where roots are tightly packed or beds where plants have started competing for light and space. Crowding can also make leaves stay damp for longer, creating conditions that favour some fungal diseases.
Sometimes the most useful gardening job is simply creating space.
