UTTARKASHI: The district administration has temporarily suspended pilgrimage to the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in view of the weather department’s red alert. Pilgrims are being halted at the Heena and Dobata holding points.The District Emergency Operation Centre and Smart Control Room have been placed on high alert. Reports of rainfall and landslides are being continuously received from all tehsils. The situation at the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines is being monitored through live CCTV feeds.The district administration has directed officials from the National Highways, Border Roads Organisation, Public Works Department and PMGSY to keep machinery and manpower ready to restore traffic flow immediately in the event of road blockages.All tehsils have been placed on alert, with officials instructed to immediately report any emergency and coordinate with relevant departments to take necessary action.
