Hisar: Sirsa MP and Congress national general secretary Kumari Selja on Wednesday accused the BJP govt of pursuing policies that, she alleged, were affecting farmers, workers, youth and ordinary families.Addressing the Bhattu block Congress convention, she said Congress workers would take up public issues and carry the party’s campaign on the Constitution, democracy and voting rights to villages, booths and households. Selja alleged that the BJP and RSS ideology was weakening the country and seeking to divide people on religious and caste lines.During the event, Selja also questioned the functioning of Election Commission, referring to a report published by a newspaper. Selja claimed that two of the three election commissioners had recorded written objections at least 14 times over the past 10 months, and referred to objections over changes in Form 6. She said repeated differences within the poll panel over important decisions warranted transparency and answers to voters. She added that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had been raising concerns in Parliament over electoral rolls and transparency in the election process and sought an impartial inquiry into the issues raised in the report.Targeting BJP govt, Selja alleged that several promises, including bringing back black money, had not been fulfilled. On agriculture, Selja alleged that farmers were facing difficulties in getting fertilisers on time and, in some places, were being made to collect them through police stations. She also accused govt of weakening MGNREGA, allowing industries to decline and favouring large industrial houses. She further alleged that govt was yielding to pressure from the US.
