Amravati: Two young band party members were crushed to death by a speeding truck near the newly constructed flyover on the Nagpur Highway at Rahatgaon Ring Road on Monday night.The deceased have been identified as Vicky Shankar Ambhore (25) and Abhay Vilas Sable (20), residents of Achalpur.Police have arrested the truck driver, Vanraj Ramsingh Memia (40), resident of Surendranagar, Gujarat, for rash and negligent driving.Nandgaon Peth police said, the two youths were daily-wage artists with a band party run by Subhash Radhelal Shahu (40), a resident of Chhatrasal Nagar, Amravati. They had gone to Nandgaon Peth to perform for a Ganesh staphana programme.After finishing their performance around 11pm, the duo was returning home on a two-wheeler. When they reached the service road near the flyover at Rahatgaon Ring Road, the speeding truck, heavily loaded with stone coal, rammed into their two-wheeler.The heavy load of coal aggravated the impact of the collision, leaving one of the victims crushed under the wheels of the truck. He died on the spot while the other succumbed shortly after, police said.Nandgaon Peth police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
