An unidentified 64-year-old Indian man looks distressed while checking an online share-trading account on his laptop, illustrating a cybercrime investment fraud case that cost him Rs 58 lakh.
Bhopal: A 52-year-old insurance adviser from Kolar allegedly lost nearly Rs 1 lakh in cyber fraud after a call from a man claiming to be from the bank.According to Kolar Road police, he received the call around 12.31 am on the intervening night of Sept 2-3. The caller informed him about multiple transactions from his account. When he denied having made any transaction, the call was disconnected.He later found 14 debits totalling nearly Rs 1 lakh from his account. He alerted the bank and filed a complaint on the cyber portal. Police have registered a case and are tracing the beneficiary accounts and the caller’s number.
