Patna: From medicinal plants to healthy recipes, students of city-based Magadh Mahila College (MMC) turned nutrition awareness into a practical learning experience during a five-day national nutrition programme organised by its home sciece department. The programme concluded on Wednesday.Held under the guidance of department head Kavita Kumari, the programme aimed to sensitise students, teachers and employees about malnutrition and health problems linked to unhealthy lifestyles. Faculty members Shruti Kumari and Seema Prakash coordinated the programme.A range of activities was organised to promote balanced diets and healthy living, including plantation of nutrition- and medicinal-value plants, poster displays and a cooking competition.College principal N P Verma also interacted with students, highlighting the importance of nutrition and the health risks associated with poor lifestyle choices.On the concluding day, a nutritious-recipe competition was held with a focus on addressing common health problems such as anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and heart disease. The event was judged by Kumkum Kumari, head of the home science department at Patliputra University, and Kumari Rupam, head of the home science department at Patna University.Semester VII students emerged as the top performers, while students from Semesters V, III and I secured the second, third and fourth positions respectively.—
