A family in Abu Dhabi is desperately looking for their dog that got lost in July this year. The family has offered a Dh15,000 (nearly ₹387,153) reward for information that helps locate their missing two-year-old Maltese dog named Jiku. As per Gulf News reports, the dog disappeared from the Al Mushrif area on July 3. It’s been nine-weeks since and the family continues its search with the help of volunteers, flyers and social-media appeals.The incidentAccording to a recent report by Gulf News, Jiku went missing just two days after his family moved into a new home near Mushrif Mall. Jiku is described as a two-year-old white male Maltese. He is also microchipped. A missing-pet listing also identifies Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi, as the location where he went missing. The appeal to anyone who may have seen the dog and help reunite with his family will get a hefty nearly ₹387,153 reward.Multiple sightings reportedSince the appeal has gone viral, the search has generated several reported sightings. However, none has yet led to Jiku. Residents in and around Mushrif Co-op and nearby areas reported seeing a small white dog matching Jiku’s description.One particularly notable lead involved a witness who reportedly saw a small white dog being carried by a man near an ADNOC station. Other witnesses gave similar descriptions, but the man and dog could not subsequently be located.Another reported sighting placed a similar dog near Al Nada Girls’ School, with the area between the school and International Community School becoming one of the main focus points of the search.Reward increased to Dh15,000Initially, the family had offered a Dh5,000 (nearly ₹129,101) reward. But later, it was increased to Dh15,000 after a Dubai company, Gulf Invest, offered additional support. The search has also brought unwanted calls, including prank calls and demands for money. Despite this, the family continues to respond to calls.
